1.0 Objective:
The objective of this operation procedure is to lay down the
procedure for Operating the Gas Chromatography.
2.0 Scope:
This procedure covers operation of Gas Chromatography .
3.0 Responsibility:
Jr. Research Officer, Research
Officer: Responsible for operation and maintenance of
the instrument as per procedure.
Head of Department:
Responsible for maintenance, timely as per
schedule.
QA Officer/QA Manager: Review
the records and governing the document.
4.0 Procedure:
4.1 Ensure that the
instrument is visibly clean and free from dust.
4.2 Select proper column
(Capillary or packed) for analysis and
attached in oven.
4.3 Open
the valve of gas cylinder of Nitrogen, Hydrogen and z-Air. And checked the
pressure & leakage.
4.4 Open
the gas valve of Nitrogen, Hydrogen & Zero air from distribution panel.
4.5 Now
switch on the main power supply.
4.6 Switch
On the Instrument.
4.7 FID Detector:
4.7.1 Press
‘BUILD/MODIFY’
4.7.2 Press
‘STATUS’ FOR Status of equipment.
4.7.3 Press ‘G.C
CONFIGURATION’ & enter all the data for Method (e. g Max Limit of Oven temp, maximum temperature required for
injector)
4.7.4 Now Press
‘BUILD/MODIFY’ Active the method by pressing ‘ACTIVE’ switch select
the required
Method & Press Method (Method 1, Method 2, Method 3, Method 4).
4.7.5 Inject the
sample/ standard and record the chromatogram and print the chromatogram by
attached printer.
5.0 Routine
Maintenance:
5.1 Clean the
instrument with dry cloth.
5.2 Clean the
injector port and replace the septa, glass liner and cotton wool if
required
