1.0 Objective:
To provide written procedure for
Handling of Hazardous chemicals.
2.0 Scope:
This standard operating procedure
covers all hazardous chemical used .
3.0 Responsibility:
Jr. research Officer/ Research Officer: Awareness about the handling of
chemical.
QA
Officer/QAM: Review the records and governing the document.
4.0 Procedure:
Hazardous chemicals are the one which are
corrosive, poisonous and likely to be carcinogenic.
4.1 The poisonous chemicals should be
received against indent and the quantity should be minimum pack.
4.2 The material should be received by
authorized personal & name of the item, date of receipt to be recorded.
4.3 The container after weighing should be
properly closed and handed over to the authorized personal and should be kept
under lock and key.
4.4 Cleaning of dispensing tools should be
done with plenty of water and with antidote in case of poisonous chemicals.
4.5 PRECAUTION:
4.5.1 People with open wound should not handle the
poisonous chemicals.
4.5.2 A pro-pipette should be used to pipette out
the poisonous solution.
DO NOT PIPETTE DIRECTLY THROUGH
MOUTH.
4.6 SAFETY MEASURES :
4.6.1 Use of gloves, nose mask, mouth cover,
safety goggles etc. while handling hazardous chemicals.
4.6.2 Maintain usage log book for poisonous
chemicals like Cyanide and also keep it under
lock & key.
