1.0 Objective:
To provide written procedure for the
action to be taken in the event of Out of Calibration of Instruments.
2.0 Scope:
This standard operating procedure
covers all the QC instruments
3.0 Responsibility:
Jr. Research Officer/ Research Officer: Calibrate the instruments as per
calibration procedure.
Internal
expert: Rectify the problem.
QA Officer/QAM: Review the records
and governing the document.
4.0 Procedure:
Following actions should be taken in the
event of out of calibration status of instruments.
4.1 Inform the head of the Head of the
department and affix a status label ‘OUT OF CALIBRATION’
4.2 Inform to internal
expert to carry out in house rectification of the instrument.
4.3 If the internal expert can rectify the
defect, then use the instrument after proper calibration.
4.4 In case internal expert is unable to
rectify the defect, call the supplier/manufacturer of the instrument.
4.5 Once the said instrument is repaired
then carry out calibration and ensure that it is working satisfactorily.
4.6 If the external expert fails to rectify
the instrument, affix a status label ‘OUT OF ORDER’.
4.7 Arrange to replace the instrument in case
an instrument is found out of calibration then the results of previous
calibration are reviewed.
